Global Pet Foods is Canada's largest chain of pet food stores specializing in natural, holistic and organic foods and supplements. The Global Pet Foods concept started in 1976 and was incorporated in Ontario in 1995. The Kanata location is one of over 100 franchised and corporate-owned stores across the Country. Global Pet Foods is fast becoming one of the leading retailers in the pet food business in Canada having annual system wide sales of over $50 million in 2008. 

Current owners Karla Briones and Shawn Hoey came to the Entrepreneurship Centre determined to secure a franchise of their own. The Centre's business advisors did not disappoint! Gaining a firm understanding of the business services offered by the Centre, from individual consultations and business seminars and workshops to legal and accounting advice and business mentoring, the couple were able to secure start up seed funding through the Canadian Youth Business Foundation, who have partnered with the Entrepreneurship Centre in providing business advice and services within Ottawa.
